Schools in Portugal, the past and the present

This short article will show you all, how our schools looked like when our parents were still very shorty.

Well, in the 60', 70' the schools resumed to a welcoming square room with a old floor, sometimes with a fireplace, and a teacher with power to give you few paddles if you talk too much. In 60’ they will include few adornments like a catholic cruxfix, and the photo with the head of state.

Well, since 2002 our education modernization has exploded. Computers start to be distributed for a much reduced price, and sometimes for free, almost all schools start to be modernized in its architecture, interiors and equipments, and so on.

In contrast, 30 years ago, the teachers have the rule to beat in it’s pupils and now have almost a “reduced” power. Our parents have used old chalkboard , and we use interactive boards. Well, whether for good or bad times have changed.

And sorry about this politician text!!!

  1. Hi!!

Here in Spain in the 60' and 70' there was a photo of the king in the classes.
Now in religious schools there are also cruxfixes in the classes.

We also have modernized classes and the computers are also cheaper than before.

In Spain now the teachers have less power than before.

    Nice blog.

    Bye, see you!

  2. "When I went to school we didn’t have computers. We had to go to school on Saturdays(...)And we didn't have any extra lessons, trips abroad or projects like Comenius"- ours parents and grandparents said.

Now we have computers, extra activities for free, wide variety of trips and free Saturdays!!
Polish school also has changed a lot;)

  5. We heard the same stories from our parents and grandparents, the teachers in their time were a lot stricter and had more influence. Our schools started to be modernized around the same time as yours and we also have interactive boards. In some classrooms we still have chalkboards tough, we think is not so bad.
    Bye, the Netherlands
